South Jordan, UT - Leslie Crawford has joined Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects as Municipal Services Operations Manager in Utah.
“Leslie‘s role significantly broadens Wilson & Company’s Utah services, especially stormwater engineering,” said Dan Aguirre, senior vice president. “She brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of civil and environmental engineering, and will help clients make sound, sustainable decisions. I’m very excited to have Leslie on the team.”
Leslie has more than 15 years experience in civil and environmental engineering, including water resources and storm water pollution prevention, as well as project management and planning. Listening to clients’ motivations and goals, she responds and thinks innovatively to develop engineering solutions that provide the best outcome for client success. Her experience includes preparing complete sets of construction documents and technical/informational reports from design inception to occupancy for large and small scale commercial, residential, and military projects in both non-contingency and contingency environments. She is sensitive to sustainability issues and completes designs that provide the least impact to the natural world and help remediate damaged or altered environments.
Over the last 10 years, Leslie has worked in a variety of environments for many different clients. She worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers preparing engineering plans and specifi cations to address permafrost and LEED requirements on Elmendorf Air Force Base (Anchorage, AK) and Fort Wainwright (Fairbanks, AK). Leslie spent approximately 18 months in Kandahar, Afghanistan, designing Afghan National Police and Army bases. She was also heavily involved in environmental issues, such as air pollution and recycling. After Afghanistan, Leslie spent 18 months at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation Site in Washington with the U.S. Department of Energy, where she managed design and construction of infrastructure related to the cleanup of a nuclear waste burial ground. While at Hanford, her team won an award for the implementation of solar roadway lighting that saved approximately $250,000 in construction and annual electricity costs.
Leslie has a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. She is a registered engineer in Utah, Hawaii, and Washington, and is a Certified Floodplain Manager. She is a member of the Utah Floodplain and Stormwater Management Association, American Public Works Association, and Utah Stormwater Advisory Committee. Honors include Distinguished Civilian Service Award and Global War on Terrorism Service Award, US Department of the Army; and International Security Assistance Forces Service Medal, North Atlantic Alliance.
